Rubella IgG antibodies are measured to confirm adequate protection against infection and to detect a past infection.
Description
IgG antibody testing is most commonly used to detect a past rubella virus infection. It can also be used to identify people who have never been exposed to the rubella virus and have not been vaccinated. Rubella IgG antibody testing is performed for all pregnant women and women planning a pregnancy to check whether they have an adequate level of protective antibodies against infection.
