TOXOPLASMA IgM – a test that helps assess whether the patient currently has toxoplasmosis.
Description
Measuring anti-Toxoplasma IgM in blood serum is particularly important in diagnosing toxoplasmosis in women of reproductive age and during pregnancy. Asymptomatic primary infections in pregnant women (a first infection occurring during pregnancy) are a serious clinical concern, as they can cause congenital toxoplasmosis in the child as well as numerous complications and fetal abnormalities. This is why this test, like Toxo IgG, is one of the first tests a woman planning a pregnancy should have.
