Coagulation factor V, proaccelerin, is one of the cofactors in the blood clotting system. Factor V activity is measured mainly to diagnose deficiencies of this factor and investigate abnormal bleeding.

Description

Coagulation factor V testing is used to diagnose deficiencies, absence or abnormalities of clotting factor activity. Indications for testing include: prolonged clotting times aPTT , PT, inherited or acquired clotting factor deficiencies associated with a bleeding disorder, and monitoring treatment with clotting factors. This test is also performed when a bleeding disorder is suspected.
