Description

1323714098_0CA 125 is a protein that serves as a tumour marker mainly for ovarian cancer, but also for cancers of the fallopian tubes, breast, endometrium, lungs and gastrointestinal tract. It is used to diagnose disease, monitor treatment, detect recurrence and assess prognosis in relation to disease stage, as the level of this protein correlates with tumour size. The marker is often used in the diagnosis of endometriosis.

This test is not used for ovarian cancer screening. The ROMA TEST is indicated for assessing the risk of ovarian cancer. It is best to test both markers, HE4 and CA125, and use the ROMA calculator to determine the level of risk with a high degree of probability.
