TOXOPLASMA IgG – a test that can determine whether a patient has ever had toxoplasmosis.
Description
IgG antibodies (late antibodies) appear in the blood between the second and fourth week after infection. Their levels rise rapidly over the next 2-4 months. After this, their levels in the blood slowly decline. Stable levels indicate that the infection occurred in the past. IgG antibodies remain in the blood throughout life and protect against reinfection. Toxo IgG is one of the first tests a woman planning a pregnancy should have. This test should only be repeated during pregnancy if you have never had the disease.
