It enables night vision. Zinc deficiency can cause, among other things: brittle nails, white spots on the nails, hair loss, impaired wound healing and anaemia. Measuring zinc levels in the blood helps detect zinc deficiency, a condition associated with serious health consequences. People at risk of zinc deficiency should replenish their levels by taking dietary supplements.
