Insulin curve 75 g (0-120, 2 blood draws)

Description

An insulin response curve is an oral glucose tolerance test (75 g) in which blood insulin levels are measured while fasting and 120 minutes after drinking the glucose solution. A doctor most often orders this test when insulin resistance or impaired insulin secretion is suspected. To have the test, you need to purchase 75 g of glucose from a pharmacy. The first blood sample is taken after fasting. A nurse then prepares a glucose solution ( 75g of glucose in 250-300ml of water), which you must drink within a maximum of 5 minutes. The next sample is taken 120 min after drinking the glucose solution. It is important not to do any physical activity throughout the test procedure, as this may distort the results. You should remain in the waiting room until the final blood sample has been taken.
