Description

Protein C and protein S measurements are usually performed as part of tests assessing possible blood clotting disorders (hypercoagulability) and/or to help identify the cause of deep vein thrombosis or venous thromboembolism, particularly when it occurs in relatively young people (under 50 years of age) or at an unusual site, for example in veins leading to the liver or kidneys, or in the veins of the brain.
