Please bring the following to your MR scan:
-A referral for an MR scan;
-An identity document;
-Blood test results showing your creatinine level (valid for 7 days) – for scans with contrast;
-Previous images, TK (CT), MR, RTG (X-ray) and USG (ultrasound) reports, and hospital discharge summaries.
Most MR scans take 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being scanned. The radiographer performing the scan will explain the entire procedure in detail. MRI results are usually ready for collection within 48h after the scan.

Head and brain MRI without contrast (without CM)
Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is a method of imaging the body that produces highly detailed images of organs and tissues without exposure to X-rays. MR images are produced by applying radio waves of different frequencies to the body while it is in a strong magnetic field (inside the MR scanner).
| This scan requires no special preparation, but you are asked to avoid eating for 3 hours and drinking for 1 hour before the scan, particularly for scans with contrast. |
| If intravenous contrast is required, you must first have a blood test to measure your creatinine level in blood serum. |
| During the MR scan, you are in a static magnetic field. |
| For your safety, you must tell staff before the scan about any implanted medical devices, internal prostheses or other metallic foreign bodies, which could overheat or malfunction in a strong magnetic field. You will complete a detailed questionnaire before the scan for this purpose. |
