Description

Urine amylase testing is used particularly to monitor the course of acute pancreatitis. However, elevated urine amylase levels may also indicate other conditions, such as pancreatic, ovarian or lung cancer, cholecystitis, a perforated gastric or duodenal ulcer, bowel obstruction or mumps. The test can be performed on a single urine sample or a 24-hour urine collection.
