First, a fasting blood sample is taken, then you drink a solution containing 75 g of glucose, and further samples are taken after 60 and 120 minutes. The test shows how quickly your body processes a dose of sugar. It detects prediabetes and diabetes, including in some people with normal fasting glucose and HbA1c levels.
